The Greek life community is so excited for 2019 recruitment to finally start this upcoming weekend. With the community growing just recently through the addition of Kappa Delta’s first class this past fall semester, this sorority recruitment process will be bigger than ever with four sororities participating. The four sororities include; Alpha Phi, Gamma Phi Beta, Phi Sigma Sigma and Kappa Delta. Each chapter as well as the Panhellenic Council has been preparing for the weekend and are so excited to meet all the girls.
Here is a list of the weekend’s schedule:
Round One: Friday, January 25th from 6:30-9:15 pm
Round Two: Saturday, January 26th from 7:15-10:40 pm
Pref Round: Sunday, January 27th from 9:00-10:55 am
Bid Day: Sunday, January 27th from 8:45-10:45 pm
Don’t be nervous to go through the process, it’s simply just a weekend of a few parties to get to know the girls in each of the sororities. One of the days you will even get to learn all about the philanthropies of each sorority and how they are able to put service at the forefront of their values. For instance, Alpha Phi holds an annual Red Dress Gala during Heart Health Month to raise money and awareness for Women’s Heart Health.
Still a bit worried about the weekend? Well, here are a few tips girls wanted to share with you from their experiences.
Stay open minded - go into each party with a fresh perspective and you will be surprised by how many amazing girls you meet if you stay open minded
Wear comfy, but cute, clothes. Throw on a sweater with your best jeans, a cute pair of booties and a pretty necklace and voila!
Don’t be afraid to ask questions! Girls want to hear all about what you have been involved in on campus, but they also love when you ask about their involvement. Plus, you never know if you’ll find even more similarities with some potential sisters.
Arrive early. These are not parties you want to be late to.
Enjoy yourself and eat the food at every party. Don’t let those sweet treats go to waste and always be sure to grab a cup of water every so often because you’ll be doing a lot of talking.
Be your true self! Have fun and be your true self, that’s who all the girls can’t wait to meet.
