Diwali is the Hindu festival of life as organized by SASA. It commemorates the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance. Here
at Bentley, we celebrate Diwali with an arrangement of student dance performances (including MOMENTUM), an act by the Boston University Bhangra Team, a fashion show, and hilarious skits, followed by a traditional South Asian dinner and sweets. The iconic event is always themed after a pop-culture reference with a South Asian twist, so this year it was Scooby-Doo Diwali!
Overall, attendees will probably find that the show is funnier and more relatable than they expected. With references to Bentley inside jokes, and nostalgia sparked from the childhood classic of Scooby-Doo mixed with an unsolved mystery. There are also South Asian elements and contemporary aspects of the show too to give an impression of how these worlds collide, and demonstrate that people have more similarities than differences.
The PR Manager for SASA said: “We also hope that the audience witnesses the months of dedication put forth into planning this one event. It is so successful every year due to the focused time and effort of numerous students from various backgrounds, and coordination among different orgs. Our long, late-night practices and tedious meetings will pay off as we strive to deliver an unforgettable moment in student event history that is consistently better than the year before’s.”
