After a long weekend of recruitment, it was finally the last, and best, day – bid day! This is when each girl going through formal recruitment gets a “bid” or an
invitation to join a sorority. Each chapter decorates their room to a specific theme and greets the new members when they arrive. There are games, photo opps, food, drinks, and tons of fun for the whole night. It’s the perfect way to start off an incoming chapter’s first day as a part of the Greek community.
Girls describe the day as being one of their favorite days each year in Greek Life. It was amazing to have a fourth sorority, Kappa Delta, experience their first ever recruitment and bid day. Emily Simmons, a senior at Bentley University and sister of Kappa Delta, recollects on the night saying “We were so excited to have our first formal recruitment and the Bentley community was so welcoming. We had a great time meeting so many incredible women and were so excited to meet our new class!”.
A freshman and newly joined member of Alpha Phi, Skylar Barron reflects on the day saying “ Recruitment as a whole was a great experience, but bid day was especially amazing. Being able to walk into the room and see all the sisters and to feel the excitement and happiness was incredible. I have never felt more welcome or accepted, and it was because of bid day that I knew I made the right choice about joining Alpha Phi“.
Clearly, this day was unforgettable for both the sisters and new members of each of the four on campus sororities. P.S Huge shout out to Panhellenic Council and all the faculty that helped make bid day and all of recruitment an amazing experience!
