Phi Sigma Sigma: September 2017 Org of the Month

Greek life is a valued part of the community at Bentley University, making up about 15% of the student body. It also makes up a large portion of our organizations, with 8 fraternities and 3 sororities. Each are dedicated to brotherhood/sisterhood, scholarship, service, and social life.

September felt like the right month to shine the light on one org in specific. This org went above and beyond to embody the core pillars that Greek life prides itself on. Through this dedication Phi Sigma Sigma has earned September Org of the Month!

Throughout the month, Phi Sig embodied and flaunted the most Bentley school spirit! Homecoming, an annual event at Bentley, is all about showing pride at our university. The girls of Phi Sig really exemplified this through their spirit. Libby Ditom, a current sophomore, says that “Homecoming is one of the many times that Phi Sigma Sigma comes together to celebrate and show our support for other teams and organizations on/off campus! All of our sisters dressed up to cheer on the football team as they won, celebrated Bentley, and enjoyed everything our campus has to offer, especially the food, drinks and activities!”.

Their core value of sisterhood shone bright during their Apple picking trip to a local orchard. It was a trip centered around creating better relationships amongst the sisters by having an off campus excursion to go apple picking, pumpkin picking, eat apple cider donuts, go on hayrides and more. Their outing illustrated days dedicated to strengthen their sisterhood, which is vital to the growth and value of it!

Phi Sig also spends a lot of time working on building a sustainable philanthropic foundation. Their major service event in September was participating in the Breast Cancer walk in downtown Boston to support the fight against breast cancer as well as raise money and awareness for the philanthropy.

Looking to support Phi Sig in their future service efforts? Well, you’re in luck because they are hosting “Phi Sig’s Most Wanted” an event to nominate their first annual sweetheart! All ticket money and donations will be given to the Phi Sigma Sigma Foundation, which advocates for school and college readiness. Watch the search for Mr. PhiSignificant and help raise money for a good cause. Stop by the EDR on October 30th, 2017 at 8:30pm for an event you won’t want to miss.

After taking a closer look at the September Org of the Month, it is clear that Greek life is what the members make of it. The members of Phi Sigma Sigma add so much value to the community at Bentley and their dedication to Greek core values is shown through their efforts throughout the month of September. We can’t wait to see what they have in store for the rest of the year. Allison Coon sums up her experience by saying “Phi Sig’s sisterhood is so strong which is what attracted me to the chapter in the first place. It is reflected in the way that we address each other day-to-day. I know that whenever I see one of my sisters around campus I can expect a warm hello or a hilarious conversation which really makes me feel at home.
