Momentum

Category: Arts & Media

Overview:

The definition of Momentum is "The strength or force that allows something to continue or to grow stronger or faster as time passes". This encompasses Momentum’s desire to be the community where students can continue their passion for dance and to be the safe space where students with no experience can explore a new art. Through workshops and weekly practices, Momentum hopes to help its members grow as dancers and in a ripple effect, instill a newfound confidence in being comfortable with one’s individuality as each person discovers their own style. As Shakespeare said, “Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them”; whether you are a natural born dancer or someone willing to learn, Momentum welcomes all to come and have fun. Why you should join:

Momentum is an all-inclusive hip hop dance team; anyone is allowed to come regardless of experience without having to try out. We are focused on a peer relationship where students will run the workshops but we are also scouting professionals to bring in more advanced pieces. Workshops are held at least twice a month and there is no commitment; come to whichever workshops you would like. On the other hand, if you do want that commitment to dance more often, Momentum has weekly dance practices. Lastly since we are brand new, we are flexible and open to any new ideas. Meeting times: Workshops will vary on different days. Like us on Facebook to get updates! Weekly dance practices are currently held on Wednesdays (may be subject to change due to room booking conflicts).
